On Monday at the Grand Palace Hotel in Tokyo, the final press conference was held for the World Boxing Association (WBA) tripleheader event called – “Best of the Best” – under the promotion of the Watanabe Boxing Gym and taking place this Wednesday, December 31, at Ota City General Gymnasium.
With the presence of the WBA’s vice president, Gilberto Jesús Mendoza, all of the players got the opportunity to give their last words before their championship commitments.
In the main event, WBA super featherweight world champion Takashi Uchiyama (21-0-1, 17 KOs) will be making the ninth defense of his belt against Argentine contender, Israel “Cachito” Pérez (27 -2-1, 16 KOs).
For the super flyweight world title of the WBA, champion Kohei Kono (30-8, 13 KOs) will take on Dominican contender Norberto “Meneito” Jiménez (20-8-3 and 10 KOs).
The junior flyweight champion of the WBA, Peru’s Alberto “Chiquito” Rossel (32-8, 13 KOs), will be exhibiting his title for the fifth time, before WBA #9 world ranked contender Ryoichi Taguchi (20-2-1, 8 KOs).
