In Culiacán, Sinaloa, in an emotional ceremony where a statue of the Mexican legend Julio Cesar Chavez was unveiled, the President of the World Boxing Association, Gilberto Mendoza said that the Aztec was an example to be followed by many.
“I can say that Julio (César Chávez) is unique. He is a unique human being and an amazing fighter” said Mendoza, who also said “i would like to learn more about his training; he always looked strong in all his fights, always forward. That was the style that made him succeed”.
The tribute to Julio César Chávez took place in his hometown and was attended not only by Gilberto Mendoza, but also by the World Boxing Council president Mauricio Sulaiman, and the promoter Don King, as well as other major international boxing figures who accompanied him in the celebration of the 35th anniversary of his first professional fight.
