The 105 lbs minimum champion of the World Boxing Association, South African Hekkie Budler is ready to defend his title this Saturday at Salle des Etoiles, Monaco, against Mexico’s Jesus Silvestre.
The fight is the undercard of the 160 lbs super championship fight between Gennady Golovkin and the British Martin Murray.
Budler (27-1, 9 KO), is the regular champion since his victory over Karluis Diaz in January 2014. He was previously the interim champion of the division. Silvestre (30-5, 22 KO) will make his third defense of the black and gold belt.
The Mexican was interim champion and makes his second attempt for the world title. He failed the first attempt against the Japanese Ryo Miyazaki in 2013.
The officials appointed by the WBA to work in the fight are Stanley Christodoulou, as referee, with Luis Pabon (PUR), Philippe Verbeke (BEL) and Pawel Kardini (POL) as judges. Gilberto Jesus Mendoza will be the supervisor.
