A lesion in the left elbow of the World Association of boxing 130 lb super champion, Japanese Takashi Uchiyama, will force him to undergo surgery at the end of May.
Uchiyama (23-0-1, 19 KO) recently defended his title against the Thai Jomthong Chuwatana, whom he defeated by KO.
Initially, they had spoken of a hand injury, but it seems that the problem was originally caused by wear and tear of an elbow cartilage.
This will cause that Uchiyama to cease activity for a few months, and he is expected to return to the ring by year’s end. The injury will prevent Japanese to follow his plan for three defenses in the 2015.
