Coming off a razor-thin majority decision win to dethrone Juan Carlos Reveco, three-division champion Kazuto Ioka (17-1, 10 KOs), from Osaka, Japan, looks to make an optional defense of his WBA World flyweight championship against Argentine super flyweight champion Roberto Domingo Sosa (26-2-1, 14 KOs), from Buenos Aires, Argentina, this Sunday in Osaka.
Ioka won the title on April 22 with scores of 113, 115-113, and 114-114. Reveco’s camp immediately petitioned the WBA Championships Committee for a rematch, where they requested the winner of Ioka-Sosa must then defend the title against Juan Carlos Reveco (35-2, 19 KOs) by the end of 2015.
By the time 2016 rolls around, assuming Ioka gets by Reveco a second time, we may see the WBA World flyweight champion defend his title against WBA Super flyweight champion Juan Francisco Estrada or lineal champion, the incomparable Roman “Chocolatito” Gonzalez.
