WBA Fedelatin super bantamweight titlist Adam Lopez will defend his title against Mario Munoz over a scheduled 10 rounds at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, New Jersey, on Friday, February 19.
Twenty-five-year-old “Mantequilla” of San Antonio, Texas, is a four-year pro (14-0, 7 KOs) who won the then-vacant title by beating Eliecer Aquino via majority decision last July. Seventh-ranked by the WBA, Lopez most recently fought this past December, stopping Eric Aiken by second-round TKO.
Also 25, “Yayo” of Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico, is a six-year ring vet (16-0-1, 10 KOs, 1 no contest) who hasn’t fought since May of last year, beating Daniel Franco by unanimous decision. Munoz has only fought once for a title, the vacant IBF Youth super bantamweight title, against Moises Flores in November 2012. He suffered a bad cut due to an accidental headbutt, and the bout was stopped and ruled a no contest in the fourth.
The fight will air live on Showtime at 10 p.m. ET.
