Guillermo Rigondeaux (17-0, 11KO) and Mexican Moises Flores (25-0, 17KO) working team reached an agreement for their WBA super bantamweight division super championship title. For this reason, the Purse Bid summoned by the Championships Committee for April 3 has been cancelled.
This fight had been ordered in July 2016, and, in spite of having reached an agreement, the parties had several setbacks that avoided carrying out the fight. Miguel Cotto and James Kirkland was the last boxing card where Rigondeaux-Flores scheduled to fight that had been suspended.
Rigondeaux, better known as “The Jackal”, won the title in 2012, when he defeated North American Rico Ramos by KO, being later promoted to Super Champion in 2013 after his victory over Nonito Donaire, and has successfully defended the title six times.
On his part, Flores “Chuky”, is undefeated and won the interim super bantamweight title in 2015 to Oscar Escandon and has made two successful defenses.
In a few days, they will deliver the bout contracts with all the fight details to the WBA office located in Panama.
