Ryad Merhy proved again why he is one of the world’s Cruiserweight promises, after defeating Mitch Williams by unanimous decision and retaining his World Boxing Association Intercontinental crown at the Spiroudime Arena in Charleroi, Belgium.

The pugilist born in Ivory Coast, but who also holds Belgian nationality, showed total dominance over his American opponent, in all aspects, to win in all three judges’ cards: 119-109, 119-109 and 118-110.

Merhy, 24 years old, won the belt on May 21st, 2016, after beating Venezuelan Williams Ocando. Although he has fought four battles since then, his title has been at stake only in two, so this fight was his second defense.

The fighter improved his record to 23 wins, no knockdowns and 19 fights won by knockout, while Williams now has a balance of 15 wins, 5 defeats, 3 draws and 10 victories by knockout.
