Gilberto Jesús Mendoza, President of the World Boxing Association (WBA), ratified this Thursday in Panama during a press conference that due process will be respected in the American Shannon Briggs’ case, who tested positive for testosterone in the Voluntary Anti-Doping Association (VADA) test.
“Briggs tested positive in our Fair Boxing program, but he has the right to request the opening of the B test and to defend himself as established by the norm”, said Mendoza.
Briggs is scheduled to fight against Puerto Rican Fres Oquendo for the regular Heavyweight Title. However, the process must be completed first in case of doping of the American boxer.
