Two interesting female battles of the WBA in August.

August will be an important month for female boxing in the World Boxing Association. There will be two very interesting combats, one in the Lightweight category and the other in the Super Bantamweight.

The first battle will be this Friday the 4th, starring Argentinians Anahi Sanchez and Cecilia Sofia Mena, who will clash for the women’s Lightweight title of the WBA, currently vacant.

Sanchez already knows what it is like to fight for the world title, since she was the WBA’s interim champion of the Featherweight and won the Super Featherweight belt of the IBF. Her record is 16 wins, 2 losses and 8 knock-outs.

On Mena’s side, she will have her first chance at a title. However, she has had a good career on the ring, in which the highlight is the Argentinian National Championship in the 126 lbs category. Now, with a record 10 victories, 1 defeat, 1 draw and 5 knock-outs, she faces the biggest opportunity of her life as an athlete.

The second battle for a title will be on August 5, between Colombian Liliana Palmera and the Venezuelan Alys Sanchez who will clash for the Super Bantamweight title of the WBA.

Palmera is the current monarch of the WBA in the 122 lbs and has a record of 27 wins, 11 losses, 3 draws and 16 knock-outs. Her combat against the Venezuelan will be the first defense of her world title, which she won on June 11, 2016, when she defeated Mexican Jessica Gonzalez. However, before that, she was interim champion of the WBA and among the names of the rivals defeated is her next rival Alys Sanchez, whom she beat by split decision.

Sanchez has a record of 14 wins, 3 losses, 1 draw and 4 knock-outs. However, “La China” was interim champions of the 122 lbs in 2012. In addition, she has endured tough battles against rivals of stature, such as Mexican Jackie Nava, considered one of the best female boxers in history. This time, the Venezuelan fighter is convinced she will be able to regain the belt that was hers once and get revenge for the defeat inflicted by Palmera herself.

Without a doubt, two interesting battles in Women’s boxing whose goal will be the WBA’s world title.
