Japan’s Shun Kubo and American Daniel Román completed the weigh-in ceremony in Kyoto on Saturday. Thus, they are ready to fight for the World Boxing Association Super Bantamweight Title on Sunday.
Kubo hit the scales at 121.4 pounds. The Japanese boxer is the current WBA Champion of the division and this will be the first defense of his title, which he earned last April by defeating Venezuelan Nehomar Cermeño. The Asian is undefeated in 12 fights and 9 of them have ended by knockout.
Roman also stopped the scale at 121.4 pounds. This will be the first time that the Mexican boxer fights for a world championship. However, he was WBA-NABA Champion of the category, title that he earned in 2015 and defended on 4 occasions. His record is 22 wins, 2 losses, 1 draw and 8 knockouts.
