Daniel Roman took advantage of his boxing qualities to leave Japan again as a world champion. The American boxer of Mexican descent defeated the local Ryo Matsumoto by a wide unanimous decision in a fight held at the legendary Korakuen Hall in Tokyo, Japan.
Roman won on the three judges’ cards (119-109, 118-110 and 119-109) to remain as the World Boxing Association Super Bantamweight Champion, thanks to an exalted performance that allowed him to be away from the danger posed by the power of Matsumoto and get his second consecutive win on Japanese soil.
With this result, Román improved to 24-2-1 with 9 knockouts, while Matsumoto, who was the eleventh classified of the WBA ranking, was left with 21-2 and 18 knockouts. In the coming days, the status of the division with Champion Daniel Román and Interim Champion Moises Flores will be announced.
