After a productive tour in Hamburg, Germany, Gilberto Jesus Mendoza, President of the World Boxing Association (WBA), arrived in the city of Cardiff, Wales, to witness the bout between Anthony Joshua and Joseph Parker, who will fight for the WBA Heavyweight Super Championship next Saturday.
Mendoza arrived just in time to witness the open workout and had the opportunity to talk with champion Joshua and the challenger to the crown, Parker. He also approached Ryan Burnett, who will fight for the WBA Bantamweight Super Championship against Yonfrez Parejo in the undercard.
In addition, the President of the WBA held a small informal meeting with Eddie Hearn, who has promoted the sport of Boxing throughout the United Kingdom with his company, Matchroom Boxing. Mendoza will also be present at the press conference this Thursday in Cardiff, the weigh-in ceremony next Friday and, of course, the day of the fights.
It is important to highlight that five WBA titles will be at stake in Cardiff, three of them are regional titles and the other two are world titles.
