This Sunday, June 17th, World Boxing Association (WBA) World Flyweight Champion Artem Dalakian (16-0, 11KO’s) will be defending his title against Sirichai Thaiyen (50-3, 35KO’s) at the Parkovy Convention Centre in Kiev, Ukraine.
Dalakian is coming off of a unanimous decision victory over Brian Viloria in February that won him the WBA World Title. This really put him on the map as the fight took place on the big “Superfly 2” card at The Forum in California.
Now Dalakian will be making the first defense of his title on home turf in the capital of Ukraine. He will facing a foe with a formidable record in Thaiyen, as the 27 year old stays very active by any standards. Thaiyen is also known as Yodmongkol Vor Saengthep.
Thaiyen, however, is still a bit untested himself as his last sixteen opponents have a combined record that is well sub .500. Those are his opponents since the only stoppage loss on his resume which was to Juan Carlos Reveco in December of 2014.
It will be very interesting to see the outcome of this World Title fight as Thaiyen is really stepping up in class to face the WBA World Champion Dalakian.
