Saul “Canelo” Alvarez was named Boxer of the month for December by the World Boxing Association (WBA) for his victory over Rocky Fielding at Madison Square Garden, New York. The pioneer organization published its lists of the best fighters for each weight, in addition to the awards for the month of December.
The Mexican native snatched the Super Middleweight crown from the British naive Fielding thanks to a blitzing that allowed him to end the fight in three rounds. Now, Alvarez is the Super Middleweight Champion as well as the champion of the Middleweight class (super champion at middleweight).
For his part, the Japanese native Hiroto Kyoguchi was honored with the Honorable Mention of the month thanks to his victory at the end of the year against the then Super World Light Flyweight Champion, South Africa native Hekkie Budler. Kyoguchi dominated the African over eleven rounds and captured the super title at 108 pounds.
The WBA congratulates Saul Alvarez and Hiroto Kyoguchi for their awards and invites you to review the rankings on their website.
