Gervonta: "I will adapt to Cruz".

Gervonta Davis will fulfill the second defense of his Super Featherweight Championship of the World Boxing Association (WBA) this Saturday against Panamanian Ricardo “Scientist” Nunez. The American will have a very special commitment, since he will return to his hometown in Baltimore to defend his title against a Central American native who arrives very motivated to surprise the odds.

The Royal Farms Arenas will be the venue where 24-year-old left-handed boxer will have the opportunity to show himself to his people. It highlights the fact that Davis is complying with the WBA’s mandatory defense against the top ranked in the 130-pound division.

Gervonta won his belt on April 21st of 2018 when he beat Argentine native Jesus Cuellar by technical knockout in Brooklyn. His first defense was in February against Mexican native Hugo “Cuatito” Ruiz, whom he easily dominated in a couple of rounds to get his hands held in victory in Carson, California.

Nunez, barely 23 years old, comes into the fight on a 10 fight winning streak and has risen in the rankings thanks to great performances in his last fights. For the Panamanian, it will be his first fight outside his country, which represents an extra challenge in addition to measuring himself to a great champion like Davis.

Pre-combat activities will be carried out during the course of the week. The press conference and the weigh-in ceremony will be the most important events before next Sunday’s match.

Davis comes in the fight unbeaten in 21 matches, of which he has scored 20 by knockout. Nunez, meanwhile, has a balance of 21 wins, 2 losses, and 19 wins before the limit.
