Alexander Besputin was the best version of himself at the Monte Carlo Casino in Monaco, dominating Radzhab Butaev in a great duel among Russians to conquer the vacant welterweight belt of the World Boxing Association (WBA).
Besputin got a unanimous decision with 116-112 cards across the board from the three judges. It was a highly contested match but the new champion drew his best resources to get the biggest victory of his professional career
Although his rival was taller and had more range, Besputin knew how to manage the distance and penetrate Butaev’s guard with good punches while he worked from an excellent defense.
Besputin remained undefeated, now after 14 fights, in which he has won 9 by knockout. For his part, Butaev now has a balance of 12 wins, 1 loss and 9 victories via knockout.
