Barranquilla will close 2019 activities with a great event by the company Cuadrilatero, with the direct support of the World Boxing Association (WBA). On December 18th and 19th, two boxing cards will be held, and they will be part of the so-called “Doble Impacto” program, that will have the participation of Venezuelan Gabriel “The Captain” Maestre defending his Fedebol title against Argentine Diego “La Joya” Chaves.

Maestre, who debuted in July this year in the professional field and knocked out the undefeated in 20 fights Jeovanis “Meke” Barraza, will return to the ring for another complicated challenge. In only his second professional fight, the Toronto Pan American Champion 2015 will face veteran Chaves, who has fought against great rivals such as Keith Thurman, Timothy Bradley and Brandon Rios.

On December 19th, the anteroom fight will be the return of Barraza himself, who wants to recover the path of triumph and for that he will have to face Mexican Fernando Silva in a 10-round Welterweight match. The “Meke” is one of the great idols of the city and people really want to see his return to the ring and celebrate a new victory against an international rival.

For his part, Yoel Finol, a silver Olympic medalist from Venezuela, will appear in a four-round bout in the Bantamweight division against Javier Martinez.

Another important fight will be the one between José Luis the “General” San Martín and Venezuelan Maikol Beaumont, in a 10-round fight at 122 pounds. Monica Henao will also step in the ring against a rival that will be announced shortly; and the day will be completed by Andrés “Mechas” García and Rodrigo “The Problem” Caraballo in an 8-round fight at 140 pounds.

On the other hand, on December 18th there will be a large boxing card with 11 matches, in which the 9-round fight between Jaime Villegas and Jeremy Triana for the WBA Fedebol Super Featherweight Title stands out.

The rest of the fights can be found on the official schedule, which will be announced in the coming days.
