Jamal James will be the main attraction next to Thomas Dulorme on Saturday night. They will fight for the World Boxing Association (WBA) Interim Welterweight title at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles in a fight that looks even.
James had a phone conversation with the press and talked about the fight, his opponent and how he expects to win the black and gold belt of the pioneer organization.
“Dulorme and I have both had good fights. He’s fought some guys with slightly bigger names, but once we get in the ring we’ll find out who has the best skills”.
“It’s good to be back. On Saturday I’m going to give them all the fireworks they’ve been waiting for. I’m happy to have this opportunity”, added the Minneapolis native.
About the difficulties and date changes, James said that it was complicated for him but that his discipline was a plus to be ready at any moment: “We always stay in shape. We just slowed down the intensity of training once it was postponed because we didn’t know when we’d be back on again. But even in normal times, I keep training in between fights. This is a full-time job for me”.
“Shango” also analyzed his Puerto Rican opponent and what he thinks of him as a fighter. He’s a strong fighter and I know that he’s got his own style and tricks, but I have my own too. That’s what makes these fights so exciting, because you have to tune in to see which style will prevail. I’m not underestimating him, I know he’s going to be at his best, but my confidence is very high because of how much I trained”, said the 32-year-old fighter.
James and Dulorme will step on the scale on Friday to mark the 147 pounds for the division. Once they complete the weigh-in ceremony, they will be ready to fight for the WBA Interim title.
