Román “Chocolatito” González has been on the talk of the town since he won a world title again. Now, the world will witness his first fight as World Boxing Association (WBA) Super Flyweight Super Champion when he steps into the ring to fight Israel “Jiga” Gonzalez next Friday, October 23, in Mexico City.
“Chocolatito” comes from one of the great performances of his career when he knocked out Khalid Yafai in nine rounds last February 29th in Texas. At 33 years of age, he managed to demolish a reigning and younger champion like Yafai to return to the top of the 115-pound class.
The Nicaraguan is a living boxing legend who wants to achieve more in his excellent career and now, as a champion, wants to give a great exhibition in the event organized by Matchroom Boxing.
His opponent is a young and brave Mexican (23 years old) but with experience in championship fights. The fight promises to be a war due to both their styles and their tendency to exchange blows.
“Chocolatito” has a record of 49 wins, 2 losses and 41 KOs, while González has a record of 25 wins, 3 losses and 11 KOs.
