Gervonta Davis is getting ready for his bout against Leo Santa Cruz, in which they will fight for the Super Featherweight Super Championship and the Lightweight Championship of the pioneer organization.
Next Saturday, October 31st, both will step into the ring for one of the most anticipated fights of the year at the Alamodome, in San Antonio, Texas, which will be held at 135 pounds. This week, among pre-fight activities, Davis held an online open workout session from Las Vegas, where he spoke to the press and fans who were able to see him live.
“I’ve trained in Las Vegas before, so I knew what kind of camp it was going to be. I’m fighting a great fighter like Leo Santa Cruz. He is a four-division world champion and a future Hall of Famer. I know it’s going to be a tough fight, so I made the decision to come to Las Vegas to train for a long time”, said the southpaw.
The fight will be in PPV and will have WBA titles of two different categories, something that means an extra responsibility: “I need to work hard to be able to achieve a great performance. This is a new task, to fight in PPV against a tough opponent and for two belts. It’s very important that I go out and do the tremendous performance I’m looking for”.
The 25-year-old American is one of boxing’s top young talents, although he has had some ups and downs in his career. However, all he has done is improve over the years and he feels that this is due to his change in mentality.
“I definitely feel that I am maturing with each fight and as I move forward. All I have to do is stay focused, be humble and the rest is history”, said “Tank” Davis.
