Tonight there will be a new presentation of the Payne Series Boxing at the Rock Hill Sports Event Center in South Carolina, USA.
The main event will feature the World Boxing Association International Welterweight Champion, Alberto “Beto” Palmetta from Argentina.
On Friday afternoon the press conference and then the weigh-in ceremony took place and Gardner Payne, organizer of the event, together with the mythical Christy Martin, expressed their expectations and happiness for opening the doors to three Argentine boxing figures.
Palmetta has been based in the United States for two years and has been working side by side with Gardner ever since. Beto has a total of 15 fights to his credit and was crowned international champion last August 15.
Another main attraction that will be broadcast all over the Americas by TyC Sports will be the debut of Argentinean Mirco Cuello in the featherweight division. Cuello stated that he decided to take this opportunity due to the inactivity caused by the pandemic. However, moving to the professional field does not extinguish his dream of becoming part of the Olympic Games in Tokyo.
Mirco Jehiel Cuello was born on September 21, 2000 in the province of Santa Fe, Argentina. He first started boxing without any knowledge of Olympic boxing, but because of his skills as an amateur fighter in different local performances, he was immediately called up by the Youth Team. This is how he managed to reach his first big challenge: the Youth Olympic Games Buenos Aires 2018, where he won the bronze medal. He participated in different national and international competitions, including being part of the FUTURE WBA CHAMPIONS in February. All this makes him a great prospect with only 20 years of age.
The third Argentinean that will fight in the Flyweight division is Lucas Emanuel Fernández Leone, who has a record of 12 victories, 2 losses, and 1 draw. He has fought with several international boxing figures and has also excelled in his country during his amateur career.
The World Boxing Association wishes these promising young boxers continuous success.
