Britain’s Conor Benn will make his third World Boxing Association (WBA) Continental Welterweight title defense against Germany’s Sebastian Formella this Saturday at the Wembley Arena in London.
The bout will be the main event on the Matchroom agenda and will bring together two opponents with good records who are looking for a title opportunity in the mid-term.
Benn is 23 years old and conquered the belt in July 2018 with a victory over Cedrick Peynaud. In June 2019, he defended for the first time against Jussi Koivula and in October of that same year he had his second defense against Steve Jamoye.
Formella is an experienced boxer who has fought tougher opponents than the champion. At 33 years of age, he has a good record and comes from losing by unanimous decision against Shawn Porter (the only defeat in his career), one of the most difficult opponents in the whole division.
Benn is undefeated in 16 fights, 11 of them won by KO. Formella has 22 wins, 1 loss, and 10 KOs.
