Chris Colbert will be making the first defense of his World Boxing Association (WBA) Interim Super Featherweight Championship on Saturday in a tough match against Panamanian Jaime Arboleda at the Mohegan Sun Casino in Uncasville, Connecticut.
It will be the main fight of the event organized by TGB Promotions and will put face to face two young men who are fighting to reach the top of the 130-pound division.
Colbert is the interim champion since February 18th, when he defeated Panama’s Jezreel Corrales by unanimous decision. Now, after the pandemic pause, he will make his first appearance as a champion in a great venue for his career.
Arboleda just had one of his most outstanding performances against Jayson Vélez in the WBA title eliminator in February. His victory by split decision earned him the right to challenge Colbert and he will finally have his title shot.
The weigh-in ceremony will take place on Friday, and on Saturday both will be able to fight for the crown if they weigh the 130 pounds of the category. Colbert is undefeated in 14 fights, 5 of them won by KO, while Arboleda has 16 wins, 1 loss, and 13 KOs.
