“Boxing is One” is one of the programs in which the World Boxing Association (WBA) has placed more emphasis since President Gilberto Jesús Mendoza took office. Unifying boxing into one is the main idea of ​​the project and the centennial year is the perfect one to consolidate this objective.

The coincidence of the year of the Tokyo Olympics and the 100 years of the pioneer body are an ideal event to move forward. The WBA has already made many contacts and has made itself available to help and make its contribution after the problems that amateur boxing has gone through in recent years.

On the other hand, it has helped professional fighters who have expressed their intention to participate in the Olympic tournament when other organizations have closed the doors to that possibility.

The Future WBA Champions was a program created in 2019 and continues to this day. It has been developed through boxing programs with the participation of amateur and professional fighters, as well as extensive camps such as the one held in Medellín during the month of February 2020.

The program has been taken to Europe, the United States, and South America, having the participation of countries such as Uzbekistan, Puerto Rico, Venezuela, Colombia, Italy, Panama, the United States, among other international representations.

The event in Medellín was intended as a direct preparation for the Olympic Games, but the postponement of the Games did not allow to continue carrying out the camps. However, the WBA does not stop and already has several projects in mind for the months prior to the Tokyo Games in its efforts to continue contributing to the amateur field.

Boxing is one, as Mendoza has said, and the WBA will continue to lead the project and seek to put all its experience of 100 years for the discipline to improve in all areas. This is the centennial year, the year of consolidating boxing as one.
