Gervonta Davis will challenge the World Boxing Association (WBA) Super Lightweight Champion, Mario Barrios, this Saturday night. Both Americans are undefeated and will feature a great night at the State Farm Arena, in Atlanta, Georgia, in their fight for the black and gold belt.

Barrios will make his second defense of the belt after winning it in September 2019 over Russian Batyr Akhmedov. “El Azteca” already defended his belt in October last year against Ryan Karl, whom he defeated by knockout.

Barrios is a 26-year-old San Antonio native of Mexican descent. He is a lanky fighter who knows how to use distance and has considerable power. He has won five of his last six fights by knockout and will now step up to a big night that will have the eyes of the boxing world on him.

For his part, Gervonta will be the challenger this time around. He is also 26 years old and is one of the most impressive young talents in boxing. The Baltimore native will be making his first fight in the division after being Super Featherweight and Lightweight champion.

In his most recent fight, he dramatically defeated Leo Santa Cruz in one of the best knockouts of the year. The southpaw fighter will seek to become champion of a third category and continue adding achievements to his career.

All promotional activities will take place this week and on Friday they will step on the scales. The limit of the division is 140 pounds and once they make weight they will be ready for the fight.

Davis has a record of 24 wins, no losses, and 23 KOs, while Barrios comes into the fight with 26 wins, no losses, and 17 KOs.
