Matchroom Boxing announced that Katie Taylor will return on September 4th to defend her World Boxing Association (WBA) Female Lightweight title against Jennifer Han at the Emerald Headingley Stadium in Leeds.
The Irishwoman will put all her belts on the line, as she also holds the WBC, IBF, and WBO versions. Taylor is the top star in women’s boxing today, thanks to her quality and feisty style, which she combines with great charisma.
This will be the second fight of the year for the 35-year-old fighter, who defeated Natasha Jonas in May in a great performance with cards of 96-95, 96-95, and 96-94.
Taylor, who was 2012 Olympic champion in London, continues to build a great professional career and will now face a tough opponent like Han.
The 38-year-old American is a former world champion at featherweight and although she will be making her first fight at lightweight, she is a dangerous opponent. She comes to the fight with an 8-fight winning streak since 2014, which is evidence of her good momentum.
Both will be on the co-feature of the Mauricio Lara and Josh Warrington fight. Taylor is undefeated in 18 fights, with 6 KOs, while Han has 18 wins, 3 losses, 1 draw, and 1 KO.
