The World Boxing Association (WBA), through its Championships Committee, ordered the minimum weight eliminator fight between Nicaraguans Leyman Benavides and Byron Rojas.
Benavides is the Gold champion of the pioneer organization, while Rojas is ranked number two.
The C.30 championship rule states that an eliminator fight will be ordered between the leading available contenders and they will have a 30-day negotiation period.
In the case that no agreement is reached or if any of the parties does not show willingness to close the negotiation the committee may call the fight to purse bid pursuant to rule D.9, which states that the split would be 50% for each fighter.
The negotiation period for the fight begins this Friday, August 27, 2021 and will close at the end of the business day on September 26, 2021.
