Hannah Rankin won the World Boxing Association (WBA) super welterweight title with a unanimous decision over Maria Lindberg on Friday at the Banqueting Hall of the Tottenhan Hotspur Stadium, in London, England.
The Scot got cards of 98-92, 97-93 and 97-93 after a very close fight in which she was able to show her class and win the black and gold belt.
The 31-year-old fighter looked superior and much more aggressive than Lindberg throughout the fight. She used her combinations well and managed to hit harder in the exchanges to go the extra rounds.
It was the 11th career win for Ranking, who has 5 losses and 2 knockouts, while the veteran Lindberg has 19 wins, 8 losses, 2 draws and 10 knockouts.
