Gilberto “Zurdo” Ramirez and Yunieski Gonzalez will fight on December 18 in a World Boxing Association (WBA) light heavyweight eliminator to be held at the AT&T Center in San Antonio, Texas.
Ramirez is ranked number four in the 175 lbs. division, while Gonzalez is ranked fifth in the rankings. It will be a good matchup between the Mexican and the Cuban in search of a title shot.
The Mazatlan native will be making his fourth fight in the category, having reigned at super middleweight between 2016 and 2018. His intention is to conquer a new championship in this weight and his path begins in San Antonio during the Golden Boy Promotions event.
Cuban Gonzalez is very experienced and got the opportunity thanks to the good moment he is living. In 2017 he lost to Oleksandr Gvozdyk by technical knockout and took a break of about three years. He returned in 2020 and has since won three fights, all by knockout, which helped him earn this opportunity.
Ramirez is undefeated in 42 fights, with 28 of them won by knockout, while Gonzalez has 21 wins, 3 losses and 17 knockouts.
