Claressa Shields will return to the ring this Saturday to defend her World Boxing Association (WBA) middleweight championship against Slovenian Ema Kozin. The champion will also put her WBC and IBF belts on the line at the Motorpoint Arena in Cardiff, Wales.
Shields has not fought for almost a year but has been active in other martial arts. She is one of the best fighters today and now returns to defend her 160-pound belts against an undefeated fighter who is one of the top ranked of the category.
“T-Rex” will be one of the big attractions of the night and will return to middleweight after some time fighting at super welterweight where she is also a champion. The 26-year-old fighter is looking forward to continue her streak and stay at the top of the boxing world.
Kozin wants to complicate the night and take Shields’ titles. The European is 23 years old and has the opportunity she wanted so much in her hands. She has beaten good fighters like Chris Namus and Maria Lindberg, so she feels ready to go against the best to surprise.
Pre-fight promotional activities will take place this week and weigh-in will be held next Friday. Shields comes in with 11 wins, no losses and 2 knockouts. Kozin has 21 wins, 1 draw and 11 knockouts.
