Yordenis Ugás and Errol Spence Jr. set the stage for their April 16 showdown at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, after their press conference to introduce the unified welterweight world title bout.

Ugas, 147 lbs. champion by the World Boxing Association (WBA), will face Spence, one of the best pound-for-pound fighters today and owner of the WBC and IBF belts.

With the presence of multiple media, both fighters were accompanied by their trainers for their first face to face and gave their impressions about the big fight ahead.

Ugas asked for a minute of silence for Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and expressed solidarity with the great fighters who are defending their country before talking about the fight.  Afterwards he detailed what this fight means to him.

“I’ve been fighting since I was 6 years old. I’m always ready for the challenge and I’m going to be ready that night. I was ready for Pacquiao, I’m going to be ready for Spence. He’s a great fighter and I’m super excited to be here,” said the Cuban in his speech.

Spence was very confident and assured that he will beat Ugas to achieve his big goal of more world titles. In addition, he assured that he will get a very showy victory: “There will be fireworks. I’m going to put on a great show for my fans. I’m ready to show them another great performance.”

Ugas-Spence is one of the most anticipated fights today and the winner will take three of the four major welterweight crowns.
