Leigh Wood and Michael Conlan had their last press conference before their fight this Saturday for the World Boxing Association (WBA) featherweight title, which will take place at the Nottingham Arena, in Nottingham, United Kingdom.
One of the most anticipated fights in the 126 lbs. division is two days away and the atmosphere is beginning to heat up. Today, both the English champion and the Irish challenger talked to the press about the fight.
Wood said he has been motivated and anxious waiting for the fight but knows there are only hours left to get up there and do his job.
“I’m looking forward to being here. It’s been a long, hard road. Everything is in order. There are no excuses, the best man will win!” assured the WBA monarch.
For his part, Conlan was less eloquent than on other occasions but showed the confidence that characterizes him: “I’m ready for fights. I’m very confident and very relaxed. There is not much more to say.
Now all that remains is the official weigh-in, which will take place on Friday where both must weigh in at 126 pounds to compete for the belt. Wood comes in with 25 wins, 2 losses and 15 knockouts, while Conlan has 16 wins, no losses and 8 knockouts.
