Terri Harper reappeared in great shape and won the WBA Intercontinental lightweight title by defeating Argentina’s Yamila Abellaneda on Saturday at the Nottingham Arena, in the United Kingdom.
The scorecards were 99-91 on all three judges’ scorecards in a bout that was dominated from start to finish.
The fight was important for the Briton, who had lost her super featherweight world titles to Alycia Baumgardner by knockout last November.
She needed to prove that the previous defeat had not affected her motivation and just months later she returned to the ring in a new category and won to go back on the right track.
It was the 12th victory in her career, while she has 1 loss and 1 draw, in addition to 6 knockouts. Abellaneda improved her record to 13 wins, 5 losses, 1 draw and 3 knockouts.
