Colombian Ingrit Valencia won the Continental Amateur Boxing Championship that took place this week in Guayaquil, Ecuador.
The Olympic medalist defeated Fátima Herrera, Mexican representative, during the last fight in the flyweight category. Valencia’s dominance was evident from the first round and she was able to impose her style to win the fight.
The 33-year-old fighter kicks off the Olympic cycle towards Paris 2024, an event in which she wants to appear again to continue her successful streak. It is worth mentioning that Ingrit participated in the WBA Future Champions sponsored by the WB, in her preparation for Tokyo 2020.
It was an important experience for many of the fighters present, as they had the opportunity to face other great boxers. Valencia fought several bouts at the event, including a victory over former professional world champion Yésica Bopp, whom she defeated by unanimous decision at the event held in Medellín, Colombia.
