Radzhab Butaev will defend his World Boxing Association (WBA) welterweight championship next Saturday against Eimantas Stanionis in an interesting bout that will take place during the Ugas-Spence Jr. endorsement in Arlington, Texas.
Although Ugas was originally scheduled to face Stanionis and later Butaev to define the sole WBA champion in the category, the Cuban received a special permission to unify and that is why Butaev-Stanionis was ordered.
The Russian last defeated American Jamal James by technical knockout on October 30, 2021 to win the world championship. He will make the first defense of that crown in a category with many talented fighters.
Although Stanionis won the right to fight Ugas, he will fight Butaev, because the Super champion was granted the Special permit to fight spence. Stanionis- Butaev is highly expected to be very interesting fight.
Butaev comes in with a record of 14 wins, no losses and 11 knockouts, while Stanionis is also undefeated in 13 fights, with 9 knockouts.
