The opponent for the WBA welterweight champion Vyacheslav Senchenko (29-0, 20 KOs) was announced today. General manager of Senchenko’s promotional company Union Boxing Promotion Dmitriy Eliseev informed BoxingScene.com that the Ukrainian will hold his first title defense against the Japanese boxer Motoki Sasaki (32-7-1, 20 KOs), number 15 in the WBA rankings. Sasaki, 33 is the OPBF champion and has defended his title successfully for three times. The bout will take place on October, 3 in the Sportpalace Drusba, Donetsk, Ukraine as a part of “Pro Boxing Show-V” evening.
Vyacheslav Senchenko won his WBA title on April, 10, when he decisioned another Ukrainian boxer Yuriy Nuzhnenko. Senchenko has started his training camp for a new bout in Crimea, Ukraine, and now will continue the preparation in his hometown Donetsk, already knowing the name of his opponent.
