Amanda Serrano: the reward of a historic woman

Amanda Serrano has had a long and complicated road to get here. She will star in one of the most important fights in women’s boxing history against Katie Taylor on Saturday, but it has not been easy to achieve recognition and great success.

While her quality and status as one of the best and most influential fighters has never been in doubt, women’s boxing has not grown as fast as expected and that’s why they have had to sacrifice a lot to earn their places, especially the Puerto Rican.

Amanda has had to go from less to more, she has had to sell her own tickets for her fights, but the work she has done over the years has paid off and has contributed a lot so that women have better opportunities.

The value of what will happen this Saturday night at Madison Square Garden is incalculable. Two women will be in the headlining fight at the legendary venue (something that doesn’t happen very often) in a fight that generates a lot of expectations and has been promoted according to its significance and historical importance.

“There is still a long way to go for equality in women’s boxing. My fight against Katie Taylor is the beginning of great things for future generations,” Amanda said in an interview recently.

But what has been achieved so far is a reward for hard work, because she has earned it the hard way. And Amanda continues to make sacrifices like moving up two divisions to face the Irishwoman but she’s used to those kinds of actions bringing her rewards in life.

She not only represents herself but she is the example of a whole generation, she is the inspiration for future champions and her fight against Taylor will mark a before and after in boxing.
