Austin Williams gave a great demonstration of power on Saturday night and won the World Boxing Association (WBA) Continental Americas middleweight belt after knocking out Chordale Booker in the first round of their bout held at Madison Square Garden, New York.
The 25-year-old fighter quickly settled a showdown against a previously undefeated and more experienced opponent like Booker and won the regional belt with a technical knockout.
Williams’ power was evident from the get-go and he scored an emphatic win that moves him closer to better opportunities in the 160-pound class.
His record improved to 11 wins, 9 of them by knockout, while breaking Booker’s record dropped to 17 wins, 1 loss and 7 knockouts.
