A kind of calm before the storm is what has been experienced in Las Vegas this week. Cordiality, enjoyment and expectations are everywhere in the City of Sin as Saturday approaches and the clash between Saul “Canelo” Alvarez and Dmitry Bivol for the World Boxing Association (WBA) Super Light Heavyweight Championship is awaited.
On Wednesday, the Media Day took place, in which Alvarez and Bivol talked to the press, gave interviews and posed for the cameras in the middle of the promotion of this weekend’s bout.
Bivol, showing off his black and gold belt, assured that he is the champion and that he will make the night very difficult for Canelo as he intends to maintain his status. The 31-year-old fighter is ready for the biggest challenge of his career and wants to use his physical advantages to win.
Alvarez talked about the seriousness with which he has taken this challenge and his goal of wining that will give him the 175 lbs. black and gold belt. He also talked about his evolution in the sport and how everything has changed since his first days in professional boxing.
On Thursday, both will be at the last press conference before the fight and tomorrow, Friday, will be the time for the official weigh-in, the step prior to Saturday’s showdown.
