Murodjon Akhmadaliev left no doubt about his power last Saturday at the Tech Port Arena in San Antonio, Texas, and retained his World Boxing Association (WBA) Super Bantamweight Super Championship against Ronny Rios with a 12th round technical knockout.
The Uzbek also defended his IBF crown in a great performance against the American, in which he made clear his quality and power in the ring.
The southpaw fighter had a very aggressive style but always taking care of the attacks of Rios, an opponent known for being a great puncher and throwing a lot of punches in his fights.
The champion used his power punches with great precision and was wearing down the challenger with a significant dominance of the ring as the rounds went by. In round 12 he landed a barrage of left uppers that sent Rios to the canvas and although he managed to get up, he lasted a few more seconds receiving unanswered punches to force the referee to stop the fight with just over a minute left in the round.
Akhmadaliev made his third defense of the black and gold belt, while maintaining his undefeated record after 11 fights with 8 knockouts. Rios dropped his record to 33 wins, 4 losses and 16 knockouts.
