Lamont Roach Jr. dominated Angel Rodriguez by unanimous decision this Saturday night during their World Boxing Association (WBA) super featherweight eliminator fight at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, California.
The American was able to put on a good fight to take cards of 117-111, 116-112 and 116-112 and move closer to his coveted world title shot.
Roach used his speed very well and was aggressive throughout the fight against the Venezuelan. In round five he managed to put Rodriguez on the wrong foot with a right hand but he recovered in seconds despite the American’s attack.
The Venezuelan tried to fight a counter-attacking fight and although at times he managed to land good left hooks in the exchanges, they were not enough to bother Roach.
The 26-year-old improved his record to 23 wins, 1 loss, 1 draw and 9 knockouts. Rodriguez was left with a record of 20 wins, 2 losses and 10 knockouts.
