Venezuelan super featherweight world champion Roger Gutierrez left for the United States to complete the final part of his preparation for his August 20 defense against Dominican Hector Garcia.
The 130 lbs. champion has done his camp in his native country and now he only has to make the final adjustments for the fight that will take place at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino, in Hollywood, Florida.
It will be Gutierrez’s first fight since August of last year when he defended his crown against Rene Alvarado in Frisco. The South American was scheduled to defend his belt again in February of this year against Chris Colbert but a positive result for Covid-19 forced him to withdraw from the fight.
That impediment of Gutierrez was the one that gave way to the confrontation between Colbert and Garcia, which ended in victory for the latter and, therefore, put him as the challenger of the Venezuelan.
“The Kid” said he feels ready and now he only has to finalize the details in the United States and wait for the countdown for his fight with Garcia.
