Gilberto “Zurdo” Ramirez is ready for his fight against champion Dmitry Bivol. The Mexican will seek the World Boxing Association (WBA) light heavyweight title and this Wednesday he offered a press conference to talk about his situation.

Different journalists had their turn to talk to the 175-pound official challenger, who spoke about his excitement on the eve of what’s to come.

“I feel very happy to have the opportunity to fight for the title. Thanks to the WBA and its president Gilberto Jesus Mendoza for making the right decision,” said Ramirez.

His fight against Bivol is not something circumstantial but a desire he has had for a long time, so he considers it a challenge.

“For years I’ve wanted to fight Bivol, I feel I can beat him and I’ve told my team. Ever since I came to Golden Boy I’ve had the desire and now I’ll be able to do it,” he continued.

Ramirez’s team, who was present through Robert Diaz, assured that they will begin negotiations with Bivol’s representatives and that they expect the fight to take place in December at the latest.

Bivol-Ramirez is one of the most interesting fights in the sport today and a clash of two elite boxers with a lot of parity on paper.
