The second bout between Devin Haney and George Kambosos Jr. ended with another victory for the American at the Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne, Australia.

“The Dream” had another dominant performance and won cards by 119-109, 118-110 and 118-110 to retain the World Boxing Association (WBA) lightweight super championship and the IBF, WBO and WBC titles.

The direct rematch generated uncertainty as Haney had won easily in the first bout during the month of June. Kambosos worked hard all these months to correct mistakes and offer a different version in this second fight.

Indeed, the local fighter this time was more aggressive, tried to pressure Haney from the beginning, changed guard constantly and threw power punches in quantity to try to discomfort the champion.

However, what the fight showed was Haney’s great ability to adapt, who did not let himself be surprised by any of his opponent’s changes and took advantage of each of Kambosos’ strategies. In fact, the 23-year-old champion hit hard and put the Aussie on the wrong foot on a couple of occasions in a bout that had more action than the first.

In the end it was another brilliant performance from Haney, who reasserted himself as the 135-pound king and a top among today’s pound-for-pound fighters. His undefeated record stands at 29 professional fights, of which he has won 15 by knockout. Kambosos, on the other hand, now has 20 wins, 2 losses and 10 wins before the limit.
