David Morrell had warned before his Saturday night bout against Aidos Yerbossynuly that the public would see his best version of him in the ring of Armory, Minneapolis. The Cuban demolished the Kazakh and technically knocked him out in the 12th round to retain his WBA super middleweight crown and leave a great impression on the public.

The 23-year-old fighter was close to his best and dominated a strong, courageous and insistent Aidos for 12 rounds.

Morrell took it upon himself to showcase a little bit of everything in the ring. He combined his opponent well with straight rights, hooks and uppers; he managed the distance at will thanks to the good use of his jab and showed great waist movements to avoid Yerbossynuly’s attack.

From before the bell it was known that the Eurasian fighter would go out to the ring to give everything and so it was. Aidos did not shy away from the fight, threw many punches and tried to attack the champion at almost all times. However, Morrell adapted to everything his opponent proposed and made everything in the ring look easy.

With little time left in the fight, a combination knocked down Yerbossynuly, who was unable to recover at that point after taking a lot of punishment in the fight. Morrell crowned a great fight with a spectacular knockout in which the referee decided not to give Aidos a count due to his bad condition.

Morrell’s undefeated record stands at 8 fights, of which he has won 7 before the limit. Yerbossynuly now has 16 wins, 1 loss and 11 knockouts.
