Guadalupe Bautista retained her championship crown in Mexico

Guadalupe “La Licenciada” Bautista won unanimously in her homeland after ten rounds of war against her compatriot Gabriela “La Bonita” Sanchez. Thus, Bautista retained the World Boxing Association’s junior flyweight title on Saturday, December 5.

The Mexican won the belt on December 12, 2020 in Culiacan, Mexico, when she defeated Nora Cardoza convincingly. After that victory she made a successful defense against Alma Rodríguez and two more fights in 2021, but an important injury in her ankle kept her out of the gym for almost a year, that is why she declared herself champion in recess.

In this new presentation, which complied with the mandatory defense according to the provisions of the pioneer entity, Lupita Bautista again looked very good on the canvas.

Sanchez had already lost her championship opportunity on the scales, because he did not comply with the 48.99 (108 pounds) for the division, she weighed 49.100 kg (108.247 lbs..  Despite this situation, Sanchez appeared in the ring with the desire to conquer, to dislodge Lupita who knew how to deploy her experience with effective and precise connections in the soft parts and combinations that sought a knockout that could not come because in front of her she had a brave and strong Sanchez who knew how to absorb the attacks to not give up until the end.

Thus, with cards of 97-93 / 99-91 and 96-94, the WBA 108 lbs. champion, Lupita Bautista improved her record to 21 wins with 4 knockouts, 11 setbacks, 2 draws and is waiting for more challenges.
