The World Boxing Association (WBA) released its December rankings and with them the individual awards, which went to Japan’s Naoya Inoue as Fighter of the Month and Daniel Dubois as Honorable Mention.

Inoue became the first Japanese-born undisputed champion in history after defeating Paul Butler by technical knockout in 10 rounds during their bout held in Koto-Ku on December 13.

“The Monster” made a dominant fight in which he was demolishing his opponent to finish him in the last part of the fight. At the time of the stoppage he was up 100-90 on all the judges’ scorecards as an evidence of his superiority over the Briton.

For his part, Dubois had a great performance last December 3 in defense of his WBA heavyweight title and defeated South African Kevin Lerena by a third round knockout. Dubois had to recover from three knockdowns in the first round and a discomfort in one of his legs, but he knew how to have patience and precision to impose his power and finish Lerena.

The WBA rankings are published and can be reviewed in the corresponding section of the official website of the pioneer body.
