Mexico’s Yessica Nery Plata has learned to fight against the stream and is showing the world what she is capable of thanks to her impressive victories. On January 13, she traveled to Canada and defeated Kim Clavel on the road to become the World Boxing Association (WBA) Boxer of the Month.
The pioneer body announced the monthly awards and also released its women’s rankings for January, which brought with it the award for the women’s light flyweight champion.
Nery Plata had defeated Yésica Bopp in March 2022 in a surprising way and cut a long winning streak of the Argentinean to keep the 108-pound belt. She did not hesitate to accept the offer to unify against Clavel and repeated the dose to make it clear that her title win had not been luck or chance.
The WBA champion came out to give her all and proved to be the best in the ring thanks to her high volume of punches and her precision when exchanging with the Canadian. In the end she got cards of 96-94, 97-93 and 97-93 with a great dominance that now makes her the owner of two belts, including the WBC one.
The pioneer organization congratulates the Mexican native for such an important victory and hopes that the next step in her career will continue to be full of success. Congratulations, champion.
