Irish Gary Cully will face Puerto Rican Wilfredo Flores for the vacant World Boxing Association (WBA) Intercontinental lightweight title this Saturday at the Nottingham Arena.
The bout will be part of the Matchroom event, which will feature Leigh Wood defending his world featherweight championship against Mauricio Lara in the main event.
Cully is a 27-year-old fighter who is going to his first fight of this kind, but he already has good experience and has defeated renowned opponents such as Miguel “Títere” Vázquez. The native of Naas comes with four knockouts in a row and aims to be crowned this weekend.
Flores, a native of Puerto Rico, has made almost his entire career in the United States and this will only be his second fight outside this country. He fought once in Mexico and now he will cross the ocean to face Cully in England with the firm intention of winning the regional title of the oldest boxing organization.
Cully is undefeated in 15 fights, of which he has won 9 by stoppage. For his part, Flores has 10 wins, no losses, 1 draw and has knocked out 5 opponents.
